Less than a year ago, Lynk & Co. debuted the 03 sedan concept and now spy photographers are catching prototypes testing in the real world.
The new company comes from China’s Geely, which also owns Volvo and Lotus, and will launch with the 01 compact crossover this year in China. Lynk & Co. then hopes to eventually sell its vehicles in Europe and North America by 2019, which means the 03 seen here will likely be offered in the U.S. at some point. The sedan rides on the same Compact Modular Architecture that will underpin Volvo’s upcoming 40 series models.

In terms of styling, the production model isn’t straying very far from the concept. It draws heavily on the design of the 01, which you can see trailing behind the sedan test car in one of the spy photos. Look for it to be sized similar to the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA, although it’s unclear if Lynk & Co.’s intention is to compete in a more affordable segment against models such as the Volkswagen Jetta and Acura ILX.
Expect the 03 to go on sale in 2019 or 2020.
